Gendarmenmarkt is considered by many the most beautiful square in Berlin: the concert hall and the German and French cathedrals form a harmonious ensemble. In Advent it turns into one of the city's most atmospheric Christmas markets.
The square is central in Mitte, within walking distance of Friedrichstraße, Unter den Linden and Checkpoint Charlie. The U-Bahn stations Französische Straße, Hausvogteiplatz and Stadtmitte (U2/U6) are close.
